I’m professionally known as Nanny Kimbo.
My pronouns are they/them.
I have worked with children for more than 20 years.
I have worked in a variety of settings including playgroups, nurseries and private homes.
I worked as an independent nanny for 15 years and currently support neurodivergent youth via Gecko Community.
I also support LGBTQ+ families via The Queer Parenting Partnership, the UK’s only LGBTQ+ specific perinatal education provider.
I come from a large family in Chester, with 8 siblings and 19 nieces and nephews. I have always enjoyed being around children.
I believe in a child-centred approach to raising children. I can help you find the right methods to ensure your child reaches their full potential.
I trained as a toddler expert in March 2020 with CalmFamily and I am currently working through the certification process.
I am able to help you figure out a great rhythm for your family that provides support, stability and flexibility.
I have experience with children from birth to 18 years of age, including twins.
In June 2019 I was a finalist in the first ever UK Nanny of the Year Awards.
I was nominated again in 2020 but stepped down for personal reasons.
I began my full-spectrum doula journey by training with Younique Postnatal in June 2018. I then went on to complete a workshop with Trystan Reese via Cornerstone Doula Training with a view to supporting transgender and non-binary parents. In June 2019 I completed Mars Lord’s Abuela Doulas course as I felt I needed to be more culturally competent. I am also signed up to Mars’ online mentoring. I have trained as a pregnancy and infant loss advocate with Nneka Hall in order to support parents through pregnancy and infant loss as well as proving support for those who make the tough decision to terminate a pregnancy. I am currently training with Doula Trainings International and Cornerstone Doula Training to further my knowledge and education.
As well as a doula, I am also a babywearing consultant. I trained with Slingababy in July 2020.
In October 2020, I set up The Queer Parenting Partnership with a fellow birthworker with a view to providing antenatal and postnatal education for LGBTQ+ parents.
